Children at Messiah

Children are active participants in the life of Messiah.

Children are active participants in the life of Messiah.

While all are welcome at either of our Sunday services, the 10:30 a.m. (9:30 during July and August) Service of Holy Eucharist with music is generally more appealing to our younger members.  Children from the age of nine serve as acolytes at this service every week, and younger children often assist as greeters and with the offertory.

Soft Space

We have recently installed a "Soft Space" in the back of the sanctuary.  This carpeted area with quiet toys is intended for children six and under to be with their parents.  While we believe that children should worship with their families, we also know that it's hard to sit still for an hour!

Sunday School

Messiah uses "Seasons of the Spirit" Sunday School curriculum

2009 - 2010 Sunday School classes at Messiah begin at 9:30 a.m. and new and returning students will have their classes in the re-designed spaces and rooms upstairs.  The teachers look forward to a year of drama, woodburning, bread-baking and music-making with students to the glory of God.  We'll engage with Scripture and the Sermon on the Mount.  We'll work together on a diocesan lenten project to support Episcopal Relief & Development efforts.  We'll learn new prayer languages and make Christian season calendars.  Lastly, we'll bring our creative offerings to Christmas, Easter or Pentecost liturgies to share with others.  So, get ready, get set, and go!

It's never too late to enroll your child as a student at Messiah's Sunday School.  If you like, you can download the registration form (click here) and register by mail, or register with Tim+ or a Sunday School teacher.  We'll look for you in the Upper Rooms!  Questions?  See  Melinda Fowl, or call the office at 410-426-0709.
