Messiah
has a long tradition of feeding our community.
Every week neighbors in our community come to our doors in need of help. On
Tuesday and Wednesday mornings between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m., we distribute bags
of nutritious, nonperishable food to anyone who asks. We do track those seeking
this assistance and ask that they come no more often than once a
month.
Our outreach budget covers some of the expense of the food,
but not all of it by any means. Contributions of non-perishable items are always welcome. There is a food
collection box in the Tower Room (the room right outside the church sanctuary headed to
the hallway), and donations of items such as canned meats, soups, pasta, peanut
butter and jelly are always welcome. If you're not a member and would
like to help out, we would welcome your donation -- please call the office ahead
of time to make sure someone can greet you and help you bring the food into the
church.
Monetary donations toward this
effort are also gratefully received; checks should be payable to the Church of
the Messiah and notated "For Food Pantry" on the check.
