Music is a vital part of our worship at Messiah because it is such a powerful and intimate response to God’s grace and love in our lives.

On most Sundays throughout the year, the 10:15 service is a choral Eucharist that incorporates service music, hymns, and choir anthems. Most of Messiah’s music is taken from the Hymnal 1982, but we also use selections from other sources, including Lift Every Voice and Sing and Now the Feast & Celebration.

Messiah also features a wonderful volunteer choir, which rehearses at noon on Sunday mornings. We are now seeking to hire a new permanent organist and choir director. Inquiries may be sent to the rector, the Rev. Timothy H. Grayson,, or by phone to the office, 410-426-0709.

The Church of the Messiah features a Casavant Frere Limitee pipe organ that was installed in 1956 at a total cost of $31,540 – quite a sum of money in those days. After some modifications over subsequent years, the organ underwent a total renovation in 2014, which was overseen by Columbia Organ Works of Columbia, PA. Those who play our organ commonly refer to it as “a magnificent instrument.”
