Balkan Style Village Dance Party and Concert

The Bulgarian village dance tradition welcomes everyone who would like, to join in the circle or to simply enjoy the music played live by musicians of the region. It’s a tradition that reaches all the parts of that country reaching back to antiquity, but which is now finding a friends around the world.

We are excited to welcome this group of extraordinary musicians, originally from the country of Bulgaria, and hailed among the best in the world in the Balkan village song and performance. No partner necessary and no previous dance experience necessary. 

In about two weeks, please join us for a live music super special event at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 17 at St. Matthias & Church of the Messiah in the upper hall. We'll be presenting and co-hosting, along with our venue, St. Matthias & Church of the Messiah and International Folk Dance, a top flight World Music ensemble on their second United States Tour. This will be a rare occasion not to be missed (they appeared just once before in Baltimore in 2023). 

Bulgarika creates the spark of the village dance tradition on the dance floor with the sounds and moves of Bulgaria. It's family friendly and accessible so all are welcome. 

The evening starts with a moment of Argentine Tango shared by dancers of Argentine Tango Space Project and Inner Space Tangofest. We’ll then enjoy Bulgarika in Concert live on stage. After the concert selections Bulgarika will come down from the stage to play songs from the countryside for the crowd, giving everyone the chance to participate the line dance in the style of the village dances of Bulgaria. No previous dance skill is needed. Our co-hosts from the local International Folk Dance group will show the way.
