The Boy Scouts of America (BSA), now known as Scouting America, was founded in 1910 and is a non-partisan youth development organization focused on preparing young people for purpose through character, citizenship, and personal fitness training. St. Matthias/Church of the Messiah has both a Cub Scout pack and a Boy Scout troop.
The BSA emphasizes the importance of the Scout Oath and Law, which guide Scouts to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. Scout activities include hiking, camping, volunteering, scout skill challenges, team-building opportunities, patrol games, and troop games.
Scouting America aims to build an inclusive community where boys and girls of all backgrounds feel welcome. Our current troops meet on Sundays. For more information, please refer to the Facebook page Balto Bsa Troop 161 and email at Baltimore.Pack161@gmail.com.
